anxiety therapy
Is constant worrying stopping you from living the life that you want?
Do you always imagine the worst-case scenario?
Do you feel stuck, like you want to make a change but you’re terrified of making a mistake?
Are you becoming more isolated because you cancel plans to avoid feeling worse?
Do you worry that you’ll never be free from your anxious thoughts?
Maybe you’re a perfectionist who tries to control every detail and plan for every outcome so that you feel okay. During downtime, you struggle to relax because you’re constantly thinking about the next thing that you need to do, or what you could have done differently during the day. You’re constantly judging yourself and always feel like you’re coming up short.
Perhaps you often worry because bad things have happened to you, or your identity puts you at risk. Maybe you’ve experienced a traumatic event - or a series of challenging experiences - that leave you anticipating the next crisis. Maybe you’re LGBTQ+ or a person of color living in a society that still considers being straight and white as the “norm”, making you vulnerable to discrimination or oppression.
Anxiety therapy can help you manage your fears and live a life of confidence. If you have any questions about therapy, please send me a message — or book a free 15-minute consultation (phone or video) to discuss working together.

THE SYMPTOMS OF ANXIETY
Living with anxiety is extremely uncomfortable. You may experience physical symptoms such as:
Headaches, nausea, or digestive issues
Difficulty sleeping
Feelings of dread that can escalate into full-blown panic attacks
Anxiety disrupts all aspects of life. You may struggle to feel comfortable in friendships or intimate relationships, because you’re always worrying that the other person is upset with you, or that you’ve done something wrong. You might struggle at work, repeatedly re-reading emails before sending them, or constantly re-checking tasks to avoid making a mistake. You may avoid meeting new people or going to new social situations, because your anxiety feels too overwhelming.
All of this mental and physical effort takes a toll. You’re probably struggling to get by - and still feeling depleted and overwhelmed. I can help you feel better, manage your symptoms, and move forward with confidence.
treating anxiety
Trained in a number of effective therapies, I can help you let go of your anxiety using techniques from:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): helps you identify negative thinking patterns that keep you stuck in the loop of anxiety, and supports you to create more positive thinking and behavioral patterns to create a life free of anxiety.
Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT): guides you towards the core, painful emotions that typically drive anxiety - shame, guilt, and fear - and helps you to process and transform them into positive and productive emotions, so that you can live a happier life.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): gives you practical tools that you can practice to help manage your anxiety and build a more balanced life.
Mindfulness: teaches you to stay grounded in the present, instead of letting your anxiety constantly pull you into a fearful future.
I use the techniques that are best suited for you and your situation.
maybe you’re considering anxiety therapy, but you have some questions…
How long do I have to be in therapy?
Each client’s path is unique; however, you can expect to feel some relief and forward momentum after the first few sessions. From there, research shows that it takes about 6-12 sessions to build lasting change. That said, each person is different, so you may choose to do more or fewer sessions than that. The length of your therapy is always your decision, and a discussion that we have together.
What if my anxiety goes away on its own?
Some people do find that their anxiety ebbs and flows, depending on what’s going on in their lives. However, if you’re feeling badly enough now to consider asking for help, why wait? You can find relief and learn tools that will help you change your relationship to your anxiety for a lifetime.
What are sessions like?
In the first couple sessions you tell me about how your anxiety is affecting you, when it started, and how it’s progressed over time. You also tell me about who’s in your life and how you spend your days, so that I can start to form a picture of what your life is like, and how I can help you.
From there, we identify what you want to change, and what tools or strategies will help you make those changes. We work at a pace that feels safe for you, so that you feel supported in moving forward. As the sessions progress, you will get a better understanding of where your anxiety comes from, and how you can effectively respond to it, so that you’re able to live a life of confidence and ease.
